FAQ

Home FAQ
How long should I expect a clinic visit to be?
There are multiple factors effecting this.  If you are a new patient, then your registration process will take more time checking in.  Please visit the new patient forms tab at the top of the main page, print and fill these forms out to help expedite this process.  If your visit requires x-ray imaging prior to your visit then you will need to give yourself extra time for this.  The x-ray wait time may range from 5-30 minutes depending on their backup. You may arrive early to your visit or call our clinic in advance if it is easier for you to get x-rays done on a day different from your appointment day.
How long of a wait is there to get into clinic?
Many times patients can be seen same day or next day of calling depending on surgery days, weekends and holidays.  If your primary doctor has put in a referral for you, please feel free to call our office to expedite the scheduling of your appointment at 817-579-2020.
What insurances are accepted?
We accept most all commercial payors, VA hospital when referred to me by the VA, Medicare and Medicaid.  Please call my front office at 817-579-2020 if you would like to confirm you insurance in advance.
How fast can I schedule a surgery?
This is very dependent on the type of surgery.  Joint replacement surgery usually needs a few weeks to get things in order preoperatively as this is a big surgery including preoperative clearance from your primary doctor or specialist (cardiologist), possible dental clearance and preoperative labs.  We also will have joint replacement camps available soon!

Other traumatic injuries or smaller surgeries can often be scheduled on a very short notice, sometimes next day or same day depending on injury and insurance.

What does board certified mean?
As directly stated on Healthgrades.com:

Board certification should be one of your top considerations when choosing a doctor. Board certification is an official recognition given to doctors who have met specific requirements set by national medical specialty boards in the United States.

Board certification indicates that a doctor is highly qualified in the medical field in which he or she practices. A board-certified doctor is more likely than a non-board-certified doctor to have the most current skills and knowledge about how to treat your medical condition.

Dr. Adams is Board Certified in: Orthopedic Surgery

Accrediting Board: American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery

What age of patients do you see?
Essentially all ages in need of orthopedic care.  This might range from newborn patients to those blessed to be in their 100’s…
Do you have payment plans?
Yes.  Lake Granbury Medical Center is happy to set up payment plans for imaging or surgery if needed.  You will need to pay your copay on the date of your appointment.
Can I bring outside imaging on a disk?
Yes.  X-rays from previous clinics can be placed on disks if you request them from that clinic and bring with you on your clinic appointment.  We have online access to Lake Granbury Medical Center, Glenrose Medical Center and Gateway imaging systems and can view images from these facilities.
Do I need a referral?
This depends on your insurance.  Please call our clinic directly at 817-579-2020 and ask directly or to schedule an appointment.
Who should I expect to see at my appointment?
Please click on the Our Staff page to see more details of our staff including Lyn at the front reception area, Jeff or Collette who will check you into a room and ask you about your current problem or the Doctor Bio link for more information regarding Dr Adams.  All of our staff aims to give compassionate and informed care at each visit.
What procedures are performed at my clinic visit?
We have procedure rooms to apply casts, regularly perform various injections and perform  basic dressing changes/wound care.  Depending on insurance plan, we can provide various walking boots/splints/etc in clinic.
